Food for thought

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make or break a company... a church... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past... we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.

Just hit Play

A month ago my wife and I decided to take a chance. I chance that We both feel will not only help others but most importantly help us. We have been working out on and off again for the last few years. We have tried all different stuff to get in shape and lose weight. We had done a pretty good job with our cardio within the last few years. We would also work out from time to time but most of what we did was just walks or run.

A month ago we decided to give P90X a chance. I had worked at Oklahoma state university with in their strength and conditioning for the last few years and wanted to get back into something like that. After watching a tone of youtube videos, looking at beachbody.com and talking with those that had used the product I figure all I have to do is hit "play". Some days will be harder then others. Some days I wont want to. As long as I push myself and keep hitting play I will be better.

Well being 30 days in I can tell you I'm so glad we decided to do this. I feel so much better and I'm getting stronger. Katrina says she can tell I have lost weight and toned up. So we start phase 2 and I'm so excited to get going. Love that the workouts are hard and you have to push and grind a little to get through it.

So in the words of Tony... "Bring It"

Life and your last song....

So it's been along time since we last spoke. Know I should be writing more and letting you all know how I am doing. Went on an amazing trip to Hawaii and still haven't sat down to tell you about it. This being said, today was one of those days you really have to take a step back.

Over the weekend a girl I have known since the days at Skyline passed away. Not sure if thats the way to say it in she passed away. She was in a really bad boating accident and never made it back to us after. She isn't someone that I have talked with in years other than the common comments with facebook. With this it gets you to thinking about a lot of things. She was married with 3 kids that no longer have a mom to hold them and tell them everything is or will be okay. She even posted a picture that morning out at the lake.

Today, on my bread route, all I could do is think about what people would think and say about me. If that were me... here Saturday morning and then as you read this no longer here. No more workouts Mike. No more wishing John will call me back. No more calls from me to E on trips. No more talks for hours about nothing with my best friend. To think that everyday Katrina would have to hold Diesel and know that dads not there anymore. No more friday dinners and church with my parents.

I tried not to be morbid and think about all those things but couldn't. I guess it's one of those things that you know how much all you mean to me. How important each of you are. How I would miss each of you more then you know if that were you. But I couldn't stop thinking about what would be going through each of your minds. Would you laugh or cry at me being gone. Would you even know I'm gone. Probably shouldn't think like that because I have an amazing group of friends. Katrina tells me all the time that she can't understand ( in a good way ) how I am still friends with people I have known for 20 plus years.

My thoughts were all over the place today. More than they have been in a long time. I have memories of growning up with you. Road trips. Movies and sporting events. Vacations to places that you know God has touched with his hands. So breath taking. Concerts and shows. BBQ's and late night talks.

I guess as a final thought I would like for you to know that if you are reading this then you have had a hand in helping me, Shaping me, Pushing me, and making me.... well, be me. So many memories and wouldn't trade any of them. Just want you to know that if this were the last thing you ever read from me you know I love you. I do hope that we have many more stories to tell from the time we have got to share with each other. Love you

I think I have listed this before but this song makes me reflect and if you get a chance give it a listen.

Lighthouse and the song is Storm

One Year Later

So on this day one year ago I got to marry by best friend. It was an amazing day that was so freakin hott!!! Hard to believe that a year with Katrina as my wife has come and gone. With this past year we got to see and do many things. Got to go to from Vegas to NY all in one week. Both places are amazing and a must see but not in the same week. Rob and Tyler gave us a place to stay while we were in NY which was above and beyond. Meant so much to us, seeing as how we had just met them a few months ago at John and Celia's wedding in Costa Rica. It was so much fun to get to see the town and the life with them.

It was a year that we added a new member to our family. We got Diesel our English Bulldog in July. He is getting big and spoiled as can be... what can I say.

With Katrina helping we have grown our bread route which is a good thing. Because of this we made the choice that Katrina would no longer be working at Food Pyramid. She now helps me when she isn't in class but otherwise she is making those "A's" so she can get that good job. I am very proud at how well she is doing in school. Think sometimes she plays with D too much but, he is pretty darn cute.

Working with the OSU football team we went to another bowl game which made 4 in a row. That is something that has never been done so pretty neat to be a part of that. As we have talked about before things have changed and I'm no longer working at OSU. Was a good run and had a blast but for now we are trying something different.

In December we got to head south and spend New Years with the Family down in Dallas. was good to see everyone again and can't wait to move down there. Richard and Sarah were nice enough to host the evening which by the way.... their house was unreal. Who wouldn't want a house with a whole mini house as a "MAN" cave. Oh yeah... it awesome! It felt so good to be there and so glad that John and Celia gave us a place to crash.

For the past few months Katrina and I have been getting to spend lots of time together which has been really nice. From working together to working out it's good to get to see my wife. Well I should get to bed but thanks again for taking the time to read this. One down and many to come....

Thanks for a Great Birthday!

Simple and sweet... Just how I like it. Worked this morning. Came home to read Johns Blog and get a shout out from him. Got lots of texts from great people. Facebook was blown up which made me feel pretty good too. Had a really good nap. Mom cooked us dinner and then we had chocolate cake that Katrina and her had made earlier. After stuffing myself with cake Katrina and I came home to watch the Lakers game. Good game and the Lakers are up 2-1 now. .......not to bad if I don't say so myself. Thanks again for all the wishes today. Means a lot to know that you all care. Well I'm off to bed an older man then I was the night before. Sweet dreams you'll.
